Are my kidneys healthy?
Exciting News – We are now able to detect kidney disease earlier thanks to a new test, SDMA, which means that we can slow the progression of your pet's kidney disease at an earlier stage and improve both your pet's quality and quantity of life.
Once your pet starts to tell you that he/she has kidney trouble (drinking excessively and urinating excessively) your pet will have already lost approximately 85% of their kidney function. That means that the equivalent of 1 kidney is not working at all, and less than half of the other kidney is working.
Early detection of kidney disease is the key to improving the outcome for these patients – this means that your pet needs annual blood and urine tests from a young age.
The sooner we find it – the sooner we can fix it!
